RED, WHITE, & BEER

{Photos by Laura Nguyen}
wearing: H&M denim vest, red polka dotted dress and star button up from Taiwan, Dolce Vita boots, thrifted vintage Coach crossbody

Whats up lovers and friends? Miss me? Cause I've seriously missed ya dearly! Can't believe it's been more than two months since my last outfit post, I've been a very very bad blogger :( I'll try my hardest to change that!

Hope everyone had an awesome fourth of July yesterday! Went for a laid back day this year to counteract last year's crazy festivities; steaks, fries, and beers at my besties' was exactly what I needed. The conversations were flowing as were the homemade mojitos, let me just say that we make a mean mojito! Passing out at 10PM and waking up at 4AM was the lamest/funniest way to end the night. Oops, guess this girl still can't hang!

TWENTY THIRTEEN

2 0 1 3. Wow. I can hardly believe that 2012 came and went just like that. Looking back on the last 365 days, it's hard to even remember what happened in January but I know that the last year has been an interesting one. Through all the tough times and the sad ones, I'm thankful to have survived another year with a little help from those I love most. 2012 had given me some of the greatest opportunities and memories thus far and I will forever be grateful for such a year. So much has changed and so much hasn't, I'm ready to take on this brand new year with a little more TLC than I normally do. With so many crazy changes coming my way, it's hard not to be a little scared shitless but I think I'm ready...I think.

Happy New Year loves! Make this one the best yet! Xo

STUDLY PLAID

wearing: Nollie Bullet Stud Flannel Shirt c/o PacSun {now $20!}, American Apparel mesh body suit, black strapless bra, gifted black skirt, F21 thigh highs, ASOS heels, gifted yellow clutch

I've been known to swoon over boys in flannel, there's a certain je ne sais quoi about it that I just can't enough of. Probably my favorite thing about them is "borrowing" them from manfriends. Like leather shoes and t-shirts, flannel is something that gets better {and way more comfy} with time and wear. But since I'm manfriend-less at the moment, I was ecstatic when PacSun, my favorite brand as a middle/high schooler, sent me a few pieces from their holiday collection and this Nollie Bullet Stud Flannel Shirt was among them. So warm, so chic and so so so weather-appropriate, I've already worn it three times! The studs did it for me; I love the little gold hardware and so does everyone else it seems. Keeping the rest of the outfit monochromatic, I made a leap from whiteout to blackout. Simple and just a little scandy, I think the see-through mesh compliments the heavy flannel well.

RED, WHITE, & STUNNING

How do you like your independence? The sweet birth of a brand new country, one that we love to love and we love to hate -- a country that I am so proud to call home. Wearing red, white, and blue is a sign of patriotism, of love and devotion. While the colors may, after years of classical conditioning, directly bring up memories of flags, it doesn't necessarily have to look like you ripped off the one hanging on your neighbor's front porch and wore it around your waist.

USA by Day

I'm a casual gal at heart and I just love throwing on the first things my eyes set on in the morning. Sometimes this technique turns out beautifully and sometimes it looks more K-mart than couture but that's a risk I'm always willing to take. This outfit takes that concept and throws in a little pinch of red, a little bit of white, and smidgen of blue. A fun little number that'll have everyone seeing stars without having on too much to make them puke up the colors of the flag. I can't help but dig how the Dannijo collar necklace adds just the right amount of color to the sheer white button up.

America by Night

For the gal that likes to do her celebrating after the sun goes down, this outfit is more suited for a night on the town. A look that downplays the color scheme while staying true to it, it's like the flag went into the witness protection program and is incognito, trying to blend in with the crowd by hiding its...well, stripes. Strong pattern mixing and color splashing come into play, making this outfit bold, confident and utterly gorgeous. I love the combination of the red vertical and horizontal stripes, they contrast without being clashing. The periwinkle Liberty London scarf is the perfect shade of blue that reduces its obvious patriotic contribution.

While I won't be sporting either of these outfits -- even though I would saw off an arm and a leg to be able to do so -- I'm beyond excited to rep my stars stripes in my own way. As long as you're with good company, drinking a cold American brewski or two, what you're wear won't matter nearly as much as the memories you'll make busy making on such a spectacular day. So get up, get out, and have a beautiful fourth of July!

HEART TO HEART

2 days late, but better late than never right? Just wanted to say a quick HEY and I LOVE YOU. Hope Valentines Day was filled with chocolates, sappy music, and lots of X's and O's ! Wish I could give each and every one of you a big ol' hug and a high five (that's just how I roll). Mine was spent with my girlies, bitching about love, life, our lack of love lives and everything in between over a nice dinner of sushi and tempura ice cream. You know how us single gals get on such a mushy gushy day (cue the bitter, cynical and forever alone comments). How was your day of love? Let me live vicariously through your love life, please!

LATER 2011 AND HELLO 2012!

{photo credit: Joshua Chzen}

With 2011 hours in the past, it's time to stop planning and start doing! Say adios to reminiscing and dwelling on how amazing 2011 was and get started on figuring out how to make 2012 just as great, nay, better! New Year's resolutions, anyone? I'm terrible at keeping my resolutions, but this year, with the world possibly ending and all, I am going to try, try, and try my hardest to follow through with:

1. Making 2012 a coffee-addiction free year.
2. Blogging more regularly.
3. Taking more risks.
4. And following through with them.
5. Being more open to ideas, suggestions, criticism, advice, people, etc.

Mind set and fingers crossed! Keep those eyes filled with stars and heads filled with dreams.

What are your resolutions for 2012?

P.S. My apologies for the sporadic blogging and nonexistence existence on the internet, I'm halfway through my trip abroad and, as Jennifer Warnes might say, I've had the time of my life. 13 more days until I'm back in California and back to regular blogging, tweeting, commenting, and pun-making. Don't fret lovers, I'll be back in full force very very soon!

XO-MAS

It seems as though everyone is going home for the holidays, but being me, of course I would be doing the complete opposite. I am writing this post from the airport, impatiently awaiting my 12:20 PM boarding time to Seoul, Korea. This trip is totally out of character for me; usually a crazily calculated and cautious person, I bought my plane ticket on an impulsive whim. The most impressive part? I'm actually going through with it.

When my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year, I was at a loss for words (which never ever happens). I've just lived through the most beautiful year of my life; one full of memories and experiences that have helped shaped me, my dreams and desires. I have seen myself grown and adjust the way I am towards the way I hope to be. While I am constantly lusting for clothes and material possessions, I am honestly at such a comfortable, good and pleasant state in life, I'm actually scared to ask for more

This is why I love the holidays. Besides the glitz, glam and christmas lights, I always get sentimental and appreciative for all that I have. Thank goodness for the holidays, it keeps us humble and moving forward. Merry Christmas and happy holidays my lovelies! Thank you all SO much everything you've done. While it may not seem like much, I am so so so thankful that you've decided to take an interest in what I have to say and what I like to wear. Honestly, you have no idea how much I love each and every one of you and this blog. Through it, I have found the courage and drive to pursue my dreams, and for that, I am eternally grateful to you <3

STOREFRONT ADVENTURES

{thrifted lace tee, thrifted plaid shirt, thrifted Gap denim jacket,
thrifted red suede skirt, thrifted Coach satchel, black tights, Ecote lace ups}

The last three weekends of my December have been spent in the comfort of the Free Gold Watch studio for Storefront, DNA (designers+artists)'s one-stop holiday pop-up shop. From the sponsored Argo Tea (which, in my opinion, one-up Peet's Hibiscus tea) the vintage frocks, to the handmade goodness; it was a fun event enjoyed by many. If you had a chance to stop by, gratzi, if not, you've missed out! Until next time!

Merry Christmas Eve folks! Have a good one spending it with the ones you love.

P.S. Don't forget to enter the Jewelmint Giveaway before you ring in the New Years!

AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE A CROSSROAD'S PARTY!

{photo credit: Rosa}
{thrifted leopard coat, Roxy black crop top, BDG red high waisted jeans, black wedges,
gifted Kimchi Blue crossbody bag, borrowed Jewelmint Pomander necklace}

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa la la la laaaa la la la la! Or, better yet, deck the halls with recycled clothing a la Crossroads, that's the kind of holiday joy I'm into. I'm just going to say it, it's completely true, there is no party quite like a Crossroads Trading Co. party! The guests are so nicely dressed, the photo ops a plenty and the entertainment, aka the clothing, is icing on the scrumptious cake! The gals (Kathleen, Sherrie, Chanda, and Rosa) and I braved the crazy winter winds and made our way over to the Crossroads Pop-Up and scored some awesome brands at Walmart prices; can't wait to share them with you lovelies once I finally give in and do my overflowing laundry. A night out with these girlies is always a great night, the amount of laughter was breathtaking, literally. Can't believe that my favvvvorite partner-in-crime, Sherrie, is going off on her Italiana adventures abroad during her very last semester. Sad. It'll never be the same without you, THAT SHIT CRAY! (just for you <3)

I wore a little bit of everything, like per use. My new high waisted pants I scored for $15 at Urban Outfitter's Black Friday frenzy, was way too good of a deal to pass up! My short legs needed some compensation and my $30 wedges from A'GACI did just the right trick. Throw on my A. BYER children's leopard coat and my Roxy crop tank, along with my Kimchi Blue bag and roomie's Jewelmint Pomander necklace, and VOILA! an outfit is born. Something kind of kooky, kind of silly, and it all sort of works.

A SATORIALIST CHRISTMAS

What I Want for Christmas...

It's finals week. Amidst my stress-eating, procrastinating, and sleeping, I made this festive Polyvore set  for Santa Claus, or a rich sugar daddy, whoever can deliver. 2011 has been a great year full of moments that I can never nor will ever want to forget, I can only wish the same for 2012, with one teeny little change. I would love to increase my wardrobe by welcoming more neutrals, leather, metallics, neon and fur, more Acne, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, J. Brand, House of Harlow, and more! Ohh la la much? A girl can dream and dream and dream, can't she? For the love of Rudolph, Christmas lights and peppermint mochas, I am keeping my fingers indefinitely crossed for a Satorialist Christmas.

GRATZI-GIVING

{1. family 2. my huge plate of yumminess 3. baby brother 4. me being weird 5. me being awk}

Thanksgiving. Has it been a year already since the last? This year, more than any other year, is one that I should be extra thankful for. I have been immensely blessed with a year that's been full of amazing opportunities, ridiculously awesome people, good and bad memories, hilariously awkward moments and so much more. Ideally, it shouldn't take a holiday for us to be thankful but sometimes it's easy to get lost amongst life. I know I complain too much, and whine too often, but at the end of the day, I have everything I need and that, in itself, is enough. Of course we all dream big, which is good, it's the best! Without dreamers in this world, where would we be? I'm never ever going to give up dreaming, that just wouldn't be me, but I do need to start remembering to be grateful for what I have; my family, my friends, my wellbeing, my ability to get an education, my strong beliefs, and my world as it is. Too often we forget that it really is the small things that we tend to take for granted that means the most in life. Thank you for giving me all that I have and for allowing me to keep dreaming for all that I want.

A special shout out to all of my readers and supporters (Facebook friends, yeah, that means you!) for all that you've done for me; from the thoughtful comments to the amazing support I've received in the last few months. You lovelies are the sunshine to my cloudy day, the light of my life, the most amazing readers a gal could ever ask for. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Xox
